Hi everyone,
Our university is currently reviewing subscriptions and memberships the library has acquired that faculty and departments also subscribe to individually. Essentially, the university is paying for institution subscriptions and individual subscriptions of the same resource. For example, we may have a Financial Times subscription through Factiva and departments are also paying for an individual subscription direct with Financial Times.
We are trying to determine the best approach to manage subscriptions campus-wide going forward and are curious to know how or if other institutions libraries manage subscription and memberships to avoid overlap. Additionally, I am looking to get information from academic libraries as to if they compare their acquisitions to campus wide acquisitions or not. If so, what is the process or best practices you have when it comes to managing or supporting campus wide subscription needs?
Any information or insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Courtney
