Williams College Libraries seeks a collaborative, analytical, and
fiscally-minded staff member to coordinate the library resource budget and
database acquisitions. We believe that our collections are a vital
component of how we develop inclusive library services for our increasingly
diverse community. In this newly-revised position, you will help develop
collections that support evolving academic priorities and an inclusive
community with diverse needs.

The successful candidate will, in consultation with the Head of Collections
and Systems, ensure that the Libraries’ resource budget, endowments, and
gift funds are properly expended. They will embrace a flexible, responsive
approach to coordinating the recurring expenditures and licensing related
to non-journal electronic resource and database acquisitions for the
College Libraries. This is a full-time, year-round, support staff position,
reporting to the Head of Collections and Systems.

Responsibilities

Monitor library material funds to ensure that the resource budget,
endowments, and gift funds are properly expended
Provide weekly, monthly, and annual analysis of resource budget, endowment,
and gift fund expenditures
Analyze current and past expenditures to aid recurring expense forecasts
Project proposed budget allocations for succeeding fiscal year
Administer and coordinate department financial operations
Acquire and renew non-journal recurring expense electronic resources
Administer and coordinate database and recurring-expense resource licensing
Coordinate department documentation


Qualifications

Associate’s Degree and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience
Understanding of budgeting and accounting principles and practice
Facility in spreadsheet applications and data analysis
Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, publishers, staff,
faculty, and students
Ability to maintain documentation that is necessary for themself and others
to do their work
Ability to use common online translation tools with non-English languages
Ability to understand and evaluate licenses for library electronic resources
Ability to organize and prioritize detailed tasks and to work independently
or as part of a team


Preferred:

Understanding of data forecasting principles and practice
Experience working in the Ex Libris Alma library platform
