All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.



Description:

In early 2021, a group of librarians at two university libraries embarked
on a journey to review and update harmful subject headings and other
metadata in their catalog, digital library, and finding aids. This session
will discuss the background of the project and where the librarians
currently stand in this process. Special attention will be given to
creating organizational buy-in and overcoming unforeseen obstacles and
impediments.

Learning outcomes:

At the end of this webinar, the attendees will be able to:

   -

   Evaluate existing metadata for DEI needs.
   -

   Create institutional buy-in for similar projects.
   -

   Connect with community partners who can give input and feedback

Who should attend?

Beginner - someone new to DEI work as it relates to metadata.

University of Utah.

Nicole Lewis is the Digital Metadata Librarian at Brigham Young University.

Rachel Wittmann is the Digital Curation Librarian at the University of Utah.
