As part of the celebration of the public re-opening of MEI's Oman Library,
we will be hosting a Zoom panel titled *Area Studies, the Cold War, and the
History of the US Academic Library Collections*.

The panel will take place on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM EDT on

This panel brings together Middle East Studies librarians to discuss how
Public Law 480, the Cold War-era program whose revenues supported the
acquisitions of materials from overseas, functioned and contributed to the
building of U.S. academic library collections and how it continues to shape
knowledge production on the region within American academia today.
