Let's Get Technical is a column in the journal Against the Grain which focuses on practical problems and solutions in Technical Services departments. Columns are typically 1500 words in length.
Some ideas for topics include :
* Adaptations to work and workflows due to staff attrition or new library systems
* Assessment and review processes of on-going commitments
* Discovery and access issues with large packages of electronic materials
* Budgeting for and managing streaming media (film and audio)
* Collecting models for monographs: EBA, PDA, DDA, and approval
* Acquisitions and ILL workflows and collaboration
* Equity, diversity, and inclusion in technical services
* Managing university accessibility requirements for electronic resources
* Course reserves - physical versus online material needs and issues
* Cataloging and metadata workflows and solutions
* ILS Solutions, particularly FOLIO
What other problems have you found a solution for? We would like to hear from a wide variety of voices!
Proposals should include
* Article title
* Abstract or summary (less than 200 words)
* Name, title, affiliation, and email address for all writers
