Dear collective AcqNet folks,
At the University of Chicago, we've been building up our collection of comics/graphic novels and video games in recent years. Many of these materials are fleeting, ephemeral, and hard to get through our regular suppliers. As a result, we've turned to using vendors through Amazon or its marketplace, and even ebay to find materials. These creates workflow issues for us, as we need to pay by credit card, and then reconcile the account, as opposed to being invoiced, and sometimes suppliers are not that reliable or used to dealing with institutions. (Additionally we've had our credit card account compromised too on occasion).
For those of you who are also collecting in these areas, do you have recommendations of suppliers with whom you work? We would love to build up some relationships with suppliers where we could send lists of potential items, let them do some of work of finding these hard-to-find materials, and also be able to have them invoice us?
Thanks for any help,
Kristin
