The Tarlton Law Library at the University of Texas School of Law is seeking applicants for a Head of Collection Development and Acquisitions<https://utaustin.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/UTstaff/job/UT-MAIN-CAMPUS/Head-of-Collection-Development-and-Acquisitions_R_00012531>.
Purpose of position: This position will be part of the library's Technical Services staff and will oversee and be responsible for the Collection Development department.
Essential functions: Manage library collection development and acquisitions functions: maintain policies and procedures; oversee and maintain approval plans, package plans, standing orders, and similar programs; complete order creation, placement, and invoice processing; serve as primary contact point for vendors; under supervision, monitor and administer the collections budget; oversee collection management in the library.
Required qualifications: Graduate degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent; 3 or more years' experience performing library acquisitions and/or collection development activities; 3 or more years' supervisory experience. Applicants must have a professional demeanor, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Applicants must have excellent organizational, time-management and analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
Preferred qualifications: JD from ABA-accredited law school; prior experience working with purchasing library print and electronic resources; experience establishing relationships with library vendor; professional experience working in a law library or with legal information resources.
