We don't. We discussed this at the beginning of the pandemic and given all of the advice we heard about the short life of viruses on library materials decided it was unnecessary: things travelling in boxes are already "quarantined" from the time they are packed until the time they are unpacked. The boxes themselves are handled by people wearing masks and gloves, for the most part, don't spend a lot of time in close contact with people even so, and are by their nature unfriendly to the virus. And then there's the fact that we're still working alternating days in the library with days working from home, so packages are as likely as not to sit for a day or two before being unopened. So far no cases of COVID; we are a small staff. Carolyn Coates Acquisitions & Technical Services J. How long are you placing shipping boxes and envelopes in quarantine before your acquisitions staff unload the materials to begin the receiving/invoicing process? Do you also quarantine them once unboxed? I know that the REALM Project<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.oclc.org%2Frealm%2Fhome.html&data=04%7C01%7Ccoatesc%40easternct.edu%7Cb951eaf89174474004e708d8dda153c9%7C00bc4ae8576c45e3949d4f129d8b670a%7C1%7C0%7C637503032858804098%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=kQGvgpPdlvyokYi44fSpzTUqP1DZ8b8QxJg4UqTyoRs%3D&reserved=0> is offering data, but I would like a practical recommendation that seems to be working in libraries. We have staff who are very concerned about the possibility of infection from COVID-19. Thanks so much.
