We still bind our current print subscriptions where appropriate. Occasionally, the volumes are paperback but can stand on their own and we may like our paperback monographs not bind immediately. We have done at least 2 projects to bind journal back files for various branch libraries to send to storage. It is easier to bind and barcode the volume than try and store the unbound serials in our situation.
We have been systematically reducing our print serials and will continue to do so. The one major exception is Fine Arts where the print remains more valuable for the visual. We have retained and bound print for some journals where we did not have perpetual access to online. However, with our current budget situation, I can foresee this changing.

Hi everyone,
UConn holds many unbound serials - mostly backlog, as we are down to only a handful of new print receipts. Are your libraries still binding serials? Why or why not? If you do, how do you decide which serials get bound and which get shelved permanently unbound?
