Hi Doreen,
I am also considering Bookshop for a subset of our library purchases for
exactly this reason, so I would be very interested to hear what others have
to say.

To date, I've only used it for personal shopping a few times, and it works
very well for that -- in my memory, not notably different from any online
retailer. The packages came promptly and were wrapped in cardboard mailers
just like we get from GOBI for individual books. If you sometimes purchase
from Amazon or Barnes & Noble, as my library does, that workflow would be
identical.

I think one big issue will be figuring out which requests are appropriate
candidates. My initial thinking about that is: non-rush purchases; recent
or newly published titles; and I suspect we would mostly be able to find
popular nonfiction, some academic nonfiction, and literary fiction.

Thanks,
Kyle
