Hi Amy,

Our Dean has allowed 2 library employees to enter our building once a week to handle our library's mail. They are able to work far enough apart to keep up with social distancing. Our mail is still being delivered every day and after our Dean realized how much was accumulating after only a few weeks, she allowed us this option. I'm not sure if that is possible for your library. They scan the cover of all our serials and email them to me and a couple others who work in tech services and we are able to remotely check them and update records through Google chrome's remote desktop app. It hasn't been too bad! Of course we aren't getting as many serials as we usually do, so I know there will be a lot of catching up to do and backlog for many subscriptions.

Good luck!

Subject: [ALCTS-acqnet] Plans for return

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had started to develop plans for the day at least some of us might return to working on-site. How do you plan to address the backlogs that have formed?

We anticipate a large number of our serial issues to be waiting for us – we asked a lot of our major vendors to hold our shipments, but so many serials come directly from the publisher, that we are anticipating that those will still be waiting for us, as well as anything that shipped prior to the decision to leave campus, and arrived after our departure.

Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas they would be willing to share about how they plan to address large quantities of material, particularly if some staff remain off-site to continue some level of social distancing?
Thanks!

Amy
