A Library Assistant IV position for Electronic Resources Acquisitions at UC Irvine Libraries is now available for application submissions.
Position Summary:
The incumbent, under the direction of the Electronic Resources Acquisitions Librarian and in coordination with the other Library Assistant 4 positions, establishes and maintains access to electronic resources via: tracking and resolving access problems; communicating with vendors, publishers, and library staff; maintaining electronic resources data in Ex Libris Alma/Primo, SFX, and vendor databases; tabulating and reporting statistics; and performing special project assignments as needed. The incumbent is responsible for the management of electronic materials within the Libraries' collections, operating within the Ex Libris Alma/Primo environment, and is responsible for the ordering, acquiring, activating and paying for electronic resources of all types: databases; e-journals; e-books; and other types of electronic content. The position requires extensive technical knowledge of electronic resources, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate workflows across library departments, while also working closely with the California Digital Library in maintaining and reporting access issues to UC system-wide content. The incumbent must utilize a strong knowledge in electronic resource management while analyzing complex problems and making independent decisions and judgments.
Compensation Range:
$23.65 - $25.89/hour

Required:
3 or more years’ experience working in a public or research library
Demonstrated knowledge of Electronic Resources management
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and make independent decisions and judgments
Demonstrated knowledge and skill working with Alma and Primo (or comparable system)
Demonstrated ability to perform detailed tasks with a high degree of accuracy
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including, Excel, Outlook, and Word
Excellent keyboarding and proofreading skills
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and interact diplomatically with staff and the public
Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods of time
Skill to adapt to change and balance work priorities in a fast paced environment
Effective oral and written communication skills
Working knowledge of an integrated library system
Demonstrated knowledge of microcomputer applications
Demonstrated ability to maintain a good attendance record
Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively to promote teamwork, diversity, equality, and inclusiveness within UCI Libraries and the campus
Excellent knowledge of the bibliographic characteristics of monographs & serials in all formats
Preferred:
Skill working with and knowledge of link resolvers such as SFX
Working knowledge of OCLC
Working knowledge of one or more foreign languages (specifically Korean)
Ability to track and generate online statistical data
Demonstrated ability to understand, develop, update and disseminate technical procedures
Excellent knowledge of the bibliographic characteristics of monographs & serials in all formats
Working knowledge of University of California policies and procedures
