Michael,
We tried this at our Health Sciences Library, but it wasn’t successful from a circulation perspective.
When we were doing it, our goal was minimal staff involvement. We set up a plan with YBP/Gobi to auto-ship pre-processed books from two lists – NYT Bestsellers Fiction and Science Magazine’s books (for non-fiction). We bought these outright. Most of them we retired and gave away after 6 months, although we did choose to add a few to our collection, when relevant.
We don’t have digital leisure reading, as everyone who lives or works in New York State has access to the collections at the NYC public libraries (NYPL, Queens, Brooklyn).

Subject: [ALCTS-acqnet] Leisure reading acquisition models
Hi everyone!
The UConn Library maintains a leisure reading collection of 300 books, which circulate frequently and are a popular feature of the library. We lease our books through the McNaughton Lease subscription program<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.brodartbooks.com_library-2Dservices_collection-2Ddevelopment_popular-2Dtitle-2Dsubscriptions_mcnaughton-2Dlease&d=DwMGaQ&c=G2MiLlal7SXE3PeSnG8W6_JBU6FcdVjSsBSbw6gcR0U&r=vEzut_RTH7MVTb0PL128qAe0mAe6evMu9xfZ8yeKzIA&m=_AgZuhjsyCHimXVzNj_5wm9M9vNvVCE19uFAIbYaSW0&s=GvyIdVfY1CXL0dJ0LnHS8IW5PCSfar_xNLPefZa7630&e=>. It works, but we’d like to learn what other libraries are doing.
How is YOUR library doing leisure reading? Are you purchasing titles outright? Are you working with a different vendor (not McNaughton or Brodart) to lease titles? Do you have an electronic component of leisure reading, such as Overdrive or RBDigital?
Thanks in advance for any information you can share!

Michael Rodriguez
