RE: [ALCTS-acqnet] services provided by Library Acquisitions/Technical Services departments

The Collection Services Department at the D'Angelo Law Library at the University of Chicago does many services for our users. For faculty, students, and staff we order books they request, and do RUSH cataloging (24-hour turn-around time) for the materials when they arrive. We can order materials for next-day delivery for faculty. We have an accessioned backlog that circulates on a regular loan period for materials we can't catalog right away. In addition, the metadata staff make added entries for all Law School faculty, students, and alumni for any materials received, and we try to have a copy in a closed collection for materials produced by the Law School, and for books published by a faculty member during his tenure at the Law School. We also enhance records at users' request-adding added entries and tables of contents. There may be more that our Acquisitions staff do but I don't know about it.
