Primary Research Group, (www.Primaryresearch.com), is seeking an author to
write a monograph of approximately 10,000 words on academic library
acquisitions management. The report should include a minimum of 5 profiles of
efforts by academic libraries to develop, overhaul or manage their
acquisitions process. Topics may include but are not restricted to: choosing
and managing agents and vendors and determining direct and distributor
purchase patterns;. Records and cataloging; Bar coding and inventory
tracking. Purchase requests from patrons. Small batch vs large batch
ordering. Electronic vs print product decision making. Use of data from
interlibrary loan, repositories and the library website and library check outs
to refine purchasing. Developing data driven purchasing systems. Bill paying.
Purchase order issuance. Use of open purchase orders. Use of RFP’s. Formulas
for distributing the acquisitions budgets.
This is a compensated assignment. Two assignments are available; one
emphasizing research oriented libraries and a second on small and medium sized
