Hi, all--A professor at our small, liberal arts university is in the
beginning stages of creating a new film class on global health threats
(diseases, climate change, hunger, water scarcity, toxins, war, etc.). She
has located some possibilities but has questions around such things as
finding reviews of films, getting access to short films, locating different
kinds of films (documentaries, public service films, feature films, etc.)
with different aims and audiences, screening films, acquiring foreign
films, etc.
For the most part, we have a curricular driven film collection. Typically,
professors request a film and we acquire it (if we can afford it) so this
is a new development for us. I was wondering if any of you with expertise
in building film collections have any advice or suggestions for our
professor/us. Suggestions for great films in the area of global health
would also be appreciated, I'm sure. Thank you in advance for any
ideas!--Joni
