Hi, Susan-

I have had "Happy New Year" potlucks to celebrate the new fiscal year.  
I take advantage of various named calendar days throughout the year, 
such as Donut Day or Jelly Bean day to bring in treats for the staff.  
We've also had pop up parties just because.  The tradition here for 
birthdays has been that the person whose birthday it is brings in treats 
for their unit or department. Hope that helps
