We are currently receiving invoices for a set that we didn’t order and don’t want. Just got the second notice of “past due” for the unsolicited set. This is the first one in quite some time. Except for Scientology, which seems to send us stuff on a regular basis.

Ditto. More often I am getting personally addressed communications informing me I’ve been nominated for XYZ directory of wonderful people and wouldn’t I like to buy one or confirm my information. Occasional letters to buy the new updated version of something the library bought before. No obligation, just a waste of time.

I haven’t gotten any directory scams for years. The last one may have been about 5 years ago. The other thing I haven’t gotten for ages is unsolicited “preview” materials that incur charges if not returned by a certain date.

Dear Collective Wisdom,

I was reminded by a news story this morning (https://tinyurl.com/y4rhu6n6<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__tinyurl.com_y4rhu6n6&d=DwMGaQ&c=Oo8bPJf7k7r_cPTz1JF7vEiFxvFRfQtp-j14fFwh71U&r=oHYRUEtwQDmA2XdY1gQccXFxcr5uztqLL2uSc3QHRXI&m=46ah2YaHKkF_l4XJ0N1Mb5MndxSpC8_2v_26nU-l3GI&s=VmOs9xwyYOFHm8rWrLmcZxDXY6eaExXYUbvNNhgRKac&e=>) of the fact that for decades we in libraries have been dealing with various kinds of directory scams (http://liblicense.crl.edu/ListArchives/0412/msg00113.html<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__liblicense.crl.edu_ListArchives_0412_msg00113.html&d=DwMGaQ&c=Oo8bPJf7k7r_cPTz1JF7vEiFxvFRfQtp-j14fFwh71U&r=oHYRUEtwQDmA2XdY1gQccXFxcr5uztqLL2uSc3QHRXI&m=46ah2YaHKkF_l4XJ0N1Mb5MndxSpC8_2v_26nU-l3GI&s=PWhzFYMs4Sb0umZBBqOl8TwAvVI_S5l7UqrBqWG_WxE&e=>), but that I haven’t heard much about them lately. Have they gone away? Is anyone on the list still experiencing them?
