Dear all,

I have used both Coutts/Proquest and YBP/GOBI/Ebsco while working at various organizations. However, would be interested to hear what are the major shining moments of Coutts as well as YBP – with the new merger environment – the assumption is that bigger is better. However, I am curious who is still experiencing the shining service from both companies – then and now? And what are the highlight branding service issues that really make Coutts and YBP shine. Hope you can understand my coded language, but I don’t want this to turn into a roast but I would like to know how they both stack up with standing orders. I think the initial question may have only wanted names of vendors, I assume. But I am more interested in how they have done and what they are doing now in the standing orders realm. Bringing costs down is an matter of concern, but also as an international client – shipping, local support and other matters are also important. Thanks in advance.

At Michigan we have print Standing Orders with most of our standard vendors
our primary English Language vendor is Coutts/Proquest, but we also get them from Harrassowitz, Casalini, Ama Livre and a number of others on a smaller scale.
We have also used some smaller Michigan based vendors - but suggest that only for more mainstream titles, the more esoteric, the more problems we had.

What vendors do you use for your academic print standing orders? We currently use YBP/GOBI for most of our standing orders but am planning on evaluating other vendors in hopes of getting a higher discount. Thanks, Deborah
