*Job Description *
The Hesburgh Libraries at the University of Notre Dame seeks a creative and
forward-thinking individual to join the Resource Acquisitions and Discovery
program (RAD) as the Collection Analyst. The Collection Analyst is
responsible for gathering, analyzing and preparing library collection data
to inform Library administrative decision-making related to resource
acquisition. This position applies advanced technical knowledge to access
and harvest collection metadata stored in disparate library and vendor
systems. The Collection Analyst synthesizes findings into clear, concise
presentations easily understood by those who require them. This position is
a member of the Interlibrary Loan & Acquisitions Services (ILLAS) team and
works primarily as an individual contributor. As directed, the Collection
Analyst shares basic knowledge, skills, and routines with other unit
members to maximize available unit resources, support this emerging skill
area and meet unit goals.

*Duties include:*

   - Carry out or lead multiple projects or daily workflow that support
answering Library operational and content strategy questions related to
resource acquisitions by collecting, organizing and analyzing available
vendor or library bibliographic or financial metadata about the current
collection or any proposed new content for lease or purchase.
   - Harvest, organize and store the metadata as required for ongoing
analysis, monitoring statistics and trends useful to stakeholders.
   - Filter and clean data as required, and assess metadata quality, making
recommendations for improvements in data integrity.
   - Conduct various types of quantitative analysis, including
cost-per-use, usage, budgetary, statistical and data studies. Suggest
   reasonable conclusions for administrative consideration.
   - Create reports and visualizations as requested by stakeholders in an
agreed upon format. Explain data to individuals and groups as requested to
   facilitate understanding and decision-making.
   - Develop reporting tools needed to facilitate unmediated access to and
   articulation of collection data.
   - Develop and implement best practices for data integrity, workflow and
systems routines that support collection assessment.
   - Document data structures and reporting routines with other unit team
   members.
   - Make recommendations about methods for analyzing and managing
collection metadata for the purposes of assessment and work with program
members to integrate these ideas with other uses for the same metadata,
e.g., resource description required for patron discovery.
   - Advise the Unit Head on the integration of such workflow and routines
   in unit collection assessment work.

*Minimum Qualifications *

   - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer or Data Science, Information Systems,
Business Information Systems, or related field
   - 1 – 2 years experience

*Proficiency or working knowledge of:*

   - data visualization software
   - relational databases and query structure

   - Strong commitment to providing innovative and responsive service
   - Ability to work independently to meet administrative requests and unit
   goals
   - Work orientation focused on organizational and team success
   - Willingness to support the unit by sharing or teaching baseline skills
   or process development
   - Effective communication skills, including the ability to clearly and
concisely express complex work and ideas in everyday language
   - Comfort suggesting conclusions based on the data that may not align
   with final administrative decisions

*Additional Work/Life Balance benefits offered by the Libraries:*

   - Flexible work hours that accommodate personal and organizational needs
   - Option to negotiate split office-remote work hours after one year in
   the position
   - Resources available to support ongoing skills and professional
   development
