I am seeking information from librarians with faculty status whose main
responsibilities are in technical services. Any information about
maintaining your faculty status would be appreciated. Do you also do the
reference desk (how many hours), do you have liaison areas (teaching
responsibilities/collection development/helping with faculty research), are
you expected to regularly publish or do presentations, etc. count as
scholarship? Are you given regular release or re-assigned time to do
research and if so, how do you minimize the impact on your department?
Does your library administration recognize your administrative efforts as
an element of your faculty status or is there more emphasis on your
scholarship and service efforts?
Please feel free to reply to me directly if you prefer.
Thanks for anyone willing to provide this information!
