Summary: The Florida State University Libraries invite applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean, Resource Management and Discovery Services Division. As part of the Libraries’ Senior Leadership Team, this position provides leadership for a staff of seven librarians and 18 full-time staff. The Division has a broad range of responsibilities: acquisitions, including coordination with materials selectors; management of a dynamic and growing array of e-resources; metadata and discovery services; organization and accessibility of print and digital collections; maintenance of records in OCLC and other shared systems; preparation of reports related to the division’s functions; and negotiations with materials vendors. The successful candidate will lead the integration of functions within the Division and enable its full participation in library- and campus-wide initiatives.
The Associate Dean works closely and collaboratively with other library leaders and managers to advance the strategic goals of the Libraries and the University. The successful candidate will have the ability to adapt to a changing University environment, supporting current and emerging forms of scholarship and the integration of new technologies which include a variety of discovery platforms. This Division works closely with other affiliated FSU libraries and with our statewide consortium, the Florida Academic Library Service Collaborative, on projects that include the shared statewide ILS. The implementation of Innovative’s Sierra ILS in July 2018 offers ample opportunities for rethinking the Libraries’ role in emerging modes of scholarship and information provision.
An important responsibility of the Associate Dean is to communicate and coordinate with other functional areas throughout the FSU library system to ensure that the Resource Management and Discovery Services Division is service-oriented, contributes to system-wide initiatives and needs, and enables efficiency and work of the highest quality.
