Since we don’t have a subscription to the online product, we buy them on request when we can’t borrow them, and if they fit within our collection guidelines.

Subject: [ALCTS-acqnet] Print Dissertations and Theses question

Good afternoon,

We are reviewing our library policy vis-à-vis access to dissertations and theses from academic institutions other than our own.

Does your library collect print-on-demand copies of dissertations and theses from UMI/ProQuest? Why or why not?

If you do collect dissertations and theses, how doe you process them? Do you catalog them?

Do you provide online access to dissertations and theses from other institutions?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Amy C.
