We also use Coutts/Oasis. we were able to customize notification fields -
so the collection manager can request a book through Coutts, fill in the
name, and ID information, email for the person who wants to be notified.
This information is printed on the card that arrives with each book. If
the card has a Hold/Notify information on it, the card will stay with the
book until it reaches circulation. Then the circ staff will notify the
person that the book is ready. We have a differentiation between Notify
and Hold/Notify. If a Hold/Notify, the circ desk will keep the book for a
few days for the person
If it's a non-Coutts book, we manage to have paperwork with the person's
name and email on it that will travel with the book until it reaches
circulation - it's the circ staff who do the notification. Once in a
while, if a faculty member writes me directly, I will make a note to notify
the person when the book arrives and it ready to check out.
