I’m not sure what kind of assessment you’re talking about, but we track in library use, as well as circs, through our ILS, and use that data to evaluate our paper subscriptions, similar to Dolores’s description for databases below. For books, we use the same data for weeding and for evaluating our few remaining standing orders.

I look at some of the big, comprehensive options available. Some look fantastic, but for our small library, every commercial option I’ve seen is both too time-consuming and too expensive.

We are a very small seminary with a very small collection budget. Hence every year I do a cost per use assessment for our databases to figure out what I might need to let go of, or renegotiate with vendor. Managing a tiny budget is a constant balancing act between cost and use.

Hello All

I am interested in learning what types of assessment you all have done in your acquisitions department - or what types of assessment would you like to have done?

I'm researching the topic and am looking for examples - in my own department, we assessed all our workflow documentation when we were creating a libguide
