Thank you for the update David, but what a shame it no longer exists. It seemed like a really good idea.

Subject: Re: [ALCTS-acqnet] Roku in libraries

The public Roku lending service at the NCSU Libraries no longer exists. We found that the technology set up in classrooms on campus made it difficult to impossible for faculty to use the Roku in most rooms. Since the Roku format is so rare and only a last resort for purchasing decisions from our collection managers, they handle the loan of the devices directly to faculty on a case-by-case basis (only supporting 2 courses at the moment).
Best,
David

I'd be interested in knowing more about if NCSU or if any library has a program to purchase streaming video for faculty for channels outside the norm (i.e. other than Kanopy, Alexander St. Press, etc.)! A quick look at NCSU's tech lending page shows no streamers<http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/techlending/all>.

Back in February there was a conversation about streaming media.
Someone, I think they were writing from Kansas State University, wrote that there is a Roku lending program.

Do any of you use Roku players in your library? The writer of that said that NCSU has a program where titles can be purchased for faculty. Does anyone have an more information on this or a link that I can go to?

Thank you so much.
