Hi Laura,
We now prefer not to buy directly from publishers and vendors in foreign countries if we can avoid it. Export control regulations in the U.S. and sometimes in other foreign countries (e.g. Brazil) are a hassle. We are very pleased with the service and prices we receive from Libros Latinos (www.libroslatinos.com<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001rmUPb4FRjqgPQrwmMNStzXM63_gIEd-EfRsz03wzbRIVlLJsL-hlMoIPo-pzq1jqeoqkrhjaL4Voncoc2nvf9tWn8yHc_SB7y85Sy12W9YCxK5IBeon4BQMyXIHTw9UTKEkBopWIJC-ZhQi9yuhis-xVLJEMYuHslR3wd5v0sxtiENxFwaUb8g==&c=s7yb3PEFf_syidXLPerO3dsaeya5ntydBeFt2OBuJzJLGP_wS57tLg==&ch=lanXzpnE7gDXF4f7V4H-YVvpjfx7zexscFVYbBqk-Qz5Ra4bV2a3vw==>), Books from Mexico, and Gavilanes Books (New Orleans). The SALALM website has a great list of book suppliers for titles published in Latin America and Spain. Take a look at http://salalm.org/booksellers/vendorcontactinfo/

I hope this helps,

Subject: [ALCTS-acqnet] Help identifying Mexican and other Latin American vendors

Dear colleagues,

Our university continues to tighten payment processes for foreign materials that we purchase for our collection. We have curricular interests at the university and a decent budget for print books in Spanish (fiction and non-fiction) from Latin America, but I am encountering problems with finding vendors in these countries that can reliably fulfill orders and accommodate the documentation required by the university in a timely manner. Does anyone have favorite vendors in that region, particularly covering Mexico, Argentina, Guatemala, and Venezuela, that work well with corporate credit card transactions either through their website or via email?

Many thanks for any suggestions,
Laura
