Jan,

The University of Kentucky does not have Jaggaer, but when we were facing a similar situation as UK moved from a home grown system to SAP, we were having no luck getting UK Accounting to pay attention to our needs until we showed up with some hard data on the number of transactions (orders/invoices including credit card transactions) the library did. Second only to the hospital. Also with the list of questions about money their system would have to answer for us (ARL, IPEDS, AAHSL stats). They started seeing the benefits of the library having its own system and building an interface between the two rather than trying to shoe horn the library into SAP. Since ALMA can export and import an XML file, I would think you could work something out. To make things work, the Financial System code in Alma vendors matches the SAP ID. In Funds the External ID maps to the SAP cost center and I used the reporting codes to align with SAP GL codes for formats. As I remember we have a couple of SAP GL codes that are unique to the library. - Sincerely, Kate Seago, University of Kentucky.

Subject: [ALCTS-acqnet] New Enterprise System / interface with acquisitions

Seattle University is in the middle of implementing a new Enterprise System for the campus. This is having a major impact on acquisitions and serials workflow including a new requirement of Purchase Reqs/Purchase orders and invoicing. It should come as no surprise that we are having difficulty explaining to the implementation team our needs and the fact that we still have to maintain our own acquisition/serials modules as part of a functioning ILS. However, we are open to improving our workflows if possible.

I am writing to this listserv (and others) to see if your institution has Jaggaer (formerly Sci-Quest) as their Enterprise System and if you do, how your library interfaces with this product. We are currently using ExLibris-Alma.

Thank you - Jan
