Hi Katie.
That's a good question. We subscribe to the institutional providers like
Kanopy and Docuseek, but regarding Amazon or Netflix, we still turn away
those requests. I have actually asked Netflix if they ever planned on
offering an "academic institutional" subscription or purchase option
(similar to the providers we are all familiar with) and, at least to the
person I spoke to, it seemed like an entirely new concept. They were
interested, though, and said they would pass this interest along to the
higher ups. Not holding my breath. But maybe if more libraries requested
this, they might hear it and develop the necessary licensing.
