ACQUISITIONS ASSISTANT
Library Services Specialist II, #160067
University Library
Salary Range: $3,101-$5,369/Monthly (Anticipated hiring salary range
$3,101 - $3,668/monthly depending on qualifications.)
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; *temporary one
year appointment from date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent;
non-exempt classification*.
Essential Functions: Reporting to the Acting Head of Technical Services,
the Acquisitions Assistant will provide support for the library's technical
services unit. The incumbent will: coordinate the ordering of monograph
materials in a variety of formats using the library's management system
acquisitions module; manage the receipt of library donations; and may
provide customer service at the information desk.
Required Qualifications & Experience: Three years of full-time
library-related acquisitions experience or experience with maintenance of
data using an integrated library system such as Millennium or Alma. Working
knowledge of online databases with ability to perform complex search
strategies. Familiarity with description metadata standards including but
not limited to: RDA; MARC; Dewey Decimal; and Library of Congress
classification systems. Must possess excellent: customer service skills;
interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; organizational
skills, and analytical and problem solving skills. Flexibility in adapting
to change and the ability to: use online bibliographic and financial
databases; resolve discrepancies between publishers, vendors, and internal
records; work effectively with minimal direction both independently and
collaboratively with colleagues; work well under pressure; and adjust
priorities when necessary. Demonstrated ability and interest in working in
a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a
criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any
candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily
complete the background check may affect the application status of
applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply
for the position.
