Hello,
I've been asked to write a book chapter giving advice about migrating acquisitions data (e.g., order records, vendor records, invoice data, funds) from one ILS to another. While I can draw on my own, recent and not particularly pleasant experience, I know that no two migrations are identical and would very much appreciate hearing from others who have also been through a migration.
What prep work were you really glad you did? What did you wish you had known about earlier? If you had to do it again, what would you do differently? Did you have any near misses? Or any horror stories? If you're currently migrating or planning your migration, what do you think the gaps in your knowledge about the process are?
Please contact at sromaine_at_uw.edu with your thoughts or experience. Thanks!
