My library would prefer an email offering gift books rather than actual
shipment. Before you waste money shipping, we can say "yes" or "no". We
discard probably more than 95% of the unannounced gifts. Looking in our
catalog does not give publishers idea if we would add because we do not
have it. We are part of a large and very cooperative consortia. We are not
going to add a copy if multiple copies are already available in the state
and they are typically not checked out.
