ACRL RBMS Bibliographic Standards Committee - Descriptive Cataloging for
Rare Materials Task Force

Description: "Under the aegis of the RBMS Bibliographic Standards Committee
(BSC) and reporting to the BSC Chair, create an initial version of a
consolidated Descriptive Cataloging for Rare Materials (DCRM) standard based
on RDA (Resource Description and Access), building on the terminology,
structure, and examples in RDA. Where appropriate, enlarge the scope of DCRM
to include resources not covered in the present suite of DCRM manuals. In
order to accomplish this task, the group will: engage the rare materials
community throughout the development process through postings on a dedicated
wiki, discussion on DCRM-L, and in meetings at Midwinter and Annual
conferences; coordinate activity with the DCRM Steering Group; and
communicate with format specialist communities, such as MLA, MAGIRT, and
CONSER.

Collection Management and Electronic Resources Interest Group

Description: "E-Resource Troubleshooting Workflows: Join the Collection
Management and E-Resources Interest Group for a session at ALA Midwinter on
troubleshooting workflows for e-resources. Whether you work at a large or
small library, or a special, academic, or public library, e-resource
troubleshooting is a common component of collection management. How do you
handle e-resource troubleshooting at your institution? Do you have multiple
staff trained to troubleshoot or do you fly solo? Do you have a web-scale
discovery system in place that affects your workflows? How do you use
traditional library tools (ILS, ERM, etc.) and non-traditional tools (Excel,
LibGuides, Wikis, etc.) to manage this work? The IG co-chairs will
introduce the topic and then we'll break into 3 discussion groups to talk
about e-resource troubleshooting workflows using different types of
resources (open source, non-traditional, and traditional)."
