Yes our international vendors have to fill out the appropriate form before our accounts payable will set up a vendor and then it is only good for one year. It can make it a very complicated process. Greetings, At our institution, we are now being asked by the Administrative area to request from any foreign vendor that they fill out IRS Form W-8BEN-E<https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw8bene.pdf>. From now on, we will not be able to acquire directly foreign library materials or directly subscribe to a foreign journal or database unless our suppliers satisfy this requirement. This form is related to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FACTA). It is an intimidating 30 part and 8-page long questionnaire. Is anyone else in the Acquisitions community being asked to do the same at your institution when you buy library materials from a foreign country?
