Re: Monograph inflation

Hi,

 

I wrote yesterday to S. Brady, "There was also a publicly available report
at this URL http://www.ybp.com/book_price_update.html  that YBP put out on
their website, but for some reason the URL now resolves to a 404 error.
Perhaps a problem with YBP servers, or ?"

 

I contacted YBP, asking about the once publically available report they
produced yearly, which reports book inflationary figures based on the
marketplace and the 70,000+ books they profile each year.  I was told that
this report is now available to YPB customers only within the their GOBI3
online bibliographic catalog.  Sorry for the outdated info.

There is "The Library and Book Trade Almanac 2015", which was formerly
called "The Bowker Annual" you can purchase
(http://books.infotoday.com/directories/Library-and-Book-Trade-Almanac.shtml
).  Not sure how current the data is in the current volume.  There was also
a publicly available report at this URL

I can easily find studies and article after article about inflation in
serials pricing.  I'm having a MUCH harder time finding anything published
about monographs inflation, unless it's about textbook prices and student
consumers. Does anyone know of studies done about monograph pricing
inflation in the past 5/10/15 years?
