Dear S. Brady -
The Library Materials Price Index has the information that you need. The article and indexes are found in Information Today's publication: Library and Book Trade Almanac. Prior to 2008, this was known as The Bowker Almanac. The articles from 1999 through 2014 are available on the ALCTS website. Here is the URL: http://www.ala.org/alcts/resources/collect/serials/spi Please note that the heading states: U.S. Serials Price Index - however, this is very misleading as the article contains numerous monograph indexes showing the change in pricing over the years. Here are the Tables that can assist you: Table 3 - U.S. Hardcover Books; Table 4 - North American Academic Books; Table 5 - U.S. College Books; Table 6-U.S. Mass Market Paperback Books; Table 7-U.S. Paperback Books (Excluding Mass Market).
Please feel free to contact me off-list if you need help in locating earlier articles.
Best regards,

Subject: [ACQNET-L] Monograph inflation
I can easily find studies and article after article about inflation in serials pricing. I'm having a MUCH harder time finding anything published about monographs inflation, unless it's about textbook prices and student consumers. Does anyone know of studies done about monograph pricing inflation in the past 5/10/15 years?
