Michael,
We currently have a sink in the Technical Services area which is used to clean up our mending tools. While it is very convenient to have it, I don’t think it is absolutely necessary. With the amount of mending that we do, relocating the sink would not be worth the expense. I would think having one that is nearby should be sufficient.

Subject: [ACQNET-L] Alternatives for a sink for book repairs
I would like to know what other libraries do in their book repair/mending unit regarding the necessity of a sink. My physical processing department which handles book repairs currently has a regular built-in sink. I'd like to know if other libraries manage to repair without a sink or perhaps have a different type of setup (or different type of sink). We will be relocating this unit to a new area of the library and installing the sink will cost $24,000 which is cost prohibitive. The employee will be close to restrooms -- maybe that will suffice? Thanks for any ideas or information you might have.
