We also keep them 7 years along with our invoices. They don't take up too much space. They have been useful for resolving problems and having them printed out makes the people posting actually know that they have posted correctly. We have 5 people who post regularly and part of their instructions are to make sure they have all the parts of the posting session. We also have a home grown posting log that we use to double check it is being done correctly and printed out and also so we know who is posting and when. They have to have the log when posting and it is in a bright yellow folder so it is easier to find.
I would love to go to electronic files but unfortunately I can't trust people to make sure it all posted correctly.
We also have someone who goes over every invoice and checks it against the invoice register to make sure it was keyed correctly before it is sent by EDI to our accounts payable department. I think it is easier to compare paper to paper then the paper to a computer screen.
