UMass Amherst was also charged the upgrade fee by AA. Though we've not
encountered this sort of fee before, we do get buried in access and
maintenance fees by many of our e-resources vendors - some vendors put a cap
on the total amount of fees we get charged (based on what we've
purchased/subscribed to); nevertheless, these fees are quite high
individually in some cases, and certainly in the aggregate in my opinion.

Subject: [ACQNET-L] Accessible Archives charging for systems upgrades?
Hi all,
I was surprised to find an invoice in my inbox this morning from Accessible
Archives for a system upgrade for all tracking software and hardware. I
checked our license agreement, and it does not say anything about ever being
charged for such a thing. And, none of our other vendors charge us for
systems upgrades. While I wait to hear back from them about the details of
this charge, I would like to know a) if others are being charged this fee by
Accessible Archives and b) if you have ever been charged by a vendor for a
systems upgrade.
I look forward to your comments!
