Hello Smita,
I see that you are still working out your process, and I am wondering a) are you paying for these resources out of serials funds or monograph funds and b) what term are you purchasing if perpetual access is not an option (1, 3 or 5 year licensing)?
We are looking at this right now, and are perplexed about funding, especially for 3 and 5 year licensing, as we operate on an academic year budget, and these licensing models presents problems.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Hi, We at Arizona State University treat streaming videos as e-resources and follow the same guidelines as we have for e-resources. We also realized that the workflow needs to be addressed, and has developed a draft workflow document which I am attaching herewith. Hope this helps!
Let me know if you have any question!
Thanks.

Christina,
I'll respond to affirm that this is an issue we, too, are beginning to encounter. I wish we had guidelines in place to share with others, but we don't. Up 'til now we focused streaming video efforts on purchases of collections offered through our regional consortium. I chair our Collections Team and coming up with guidelines and an overall strategy for this scenario is on that group's list of FY15 goals.

Seeking collective wisdom.
We are beginning to receive requests for specific films on various paid streaming platforms from faculty by way of our online learning office. When it was just one request, we were happy to facilitate the purchase and the technical details, but before the requests begin to pile up, we want to establish some specific policies, or at least guidelines, about who handles the purchasing and the licensing, about what terms of use are acceptable including length of time we have access to the film and accessibility issues, about who is responsible for paying for the media and who is responsible for deciding which films get purchased.
Obviously (to us) this conversation will need to include the online learning office and other library departments beside acquisitions and electronic resources. What have other libraries done about these decisions? Do you have any written policies that you could share?
Thank you in advance for your time.
