Electronic Resources Acquisitions Coordinator
As a member of the Acquisitions Department, the Electronic Resources
Acquisitions Coordinator provides leadership in the procurement of
electronic resources for the Duke University Libraries. Working in a
changing and flexible environment, s/he manages the acquisitions and
licensing of new electronic databases and journals as well as the
renewal of existing subscriptions. To successfully perform the job, s/he
must work closely with vendors, Technical and Public Services staff, the
Professional School Libraries, and consortia partners.
Responsibilities:
In collaboration with subject specialists, Technical Services staff, and
vendors, takes a lead role in the trials, acquisitions and licensing of
new electronic resources, primarily databases and journals.
In collaboration with the Head of Acquisitions and the library’s
licensing team, manages the licensing process and workflow,
participating in vendor negotiations, monitoring the progress of
negotiations, investigating and documenting resolution of licensing issues.
Working closely with subject specialists and Accounting, manages the
renewal process for currently subscribed electronic databases and journals.
Works closely with Technical and Public Services staff to establish
effective workflows for the complete lifecycle of electronic resources;
contributes to their implementation and improvement in IBM’s Business
Process Manager software.
Develops and implements plans for the efficient and effective processing
and maintenance of licensing data.
Serves as the lead respondent for acquisitions-related electronic
resources troubleshooting.
Coordinates with the Office of Information Technology efforts to resolve
security breaches by unauthorized users of our subscribed electronic
resources.
Provides electronic resources acquisitions support to facilitate Duke’s
global programs.
Represents library on acquisitions-related OLE teams.
Serves on and/or leads library and consortia committees related to
electronic resources acquisitions.
Displays continuing growth in professional and subject knowledge and
takes an active interest in the profession. Growth and interest should
be demonstrated through continuing development of professional knowledge
and abilities, membership and participation in professional
organizations, and service to the library, University, or community in a
professional capacity.

Supervisory Responsibilities
May supervise student assistants in the acquisitions of electronic
resources.
Qualifications:
It is the expectation that all Duke University Libraries staff members

Education:
Required: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited
program. or combination of experience and advanced academic degree
appropriate for the position.
Experience:
Required: At least three years of relevant experience in acquisitions
and/or management of electronic resources; familiarity with electronic
resource licensing and negotiating; technical proficient with library
systems and data; excellent oral and written communications skills;
flexibility and high degree of comfort with change; and extensive
experience with the acquisitions modules of Integrated Library Systems.
Preferred: Project management experience or training, proficiency with
Aleph, OCLC, Serials Solutions 360 Core, Kuali OLE and GOKb.

Salary and Benefits
Salary and rank dependent on qualifications and experience.
