At the Munday Library at St. Edward's University, e-resources – both 
subscription and access on demand -- are our strength. The successful 
candidate will manage the selection, presentation, and assessment of 
e-books, e-journals, streaming video, and electronic databases, as well 
as our other patron-focused collections: print, DVD, and archives. Be 
willing to apply your substantial knowledge of collection management and 
the publishing industry in order to innovate, and to implement. Work 
closely with the Acquisitions & Metadata Librarian and the Electronic & 
Continuing Resources Librarian as well as colleagues throughout the 
library and across campus to provide our community with the best 
possible library resources in the most timely manner. This full-time 
position with competitive salary reports to the Library Director. 
Available immediately.



Responsibilities

· Oversee and enhance a dynamic academic library collection through 
traditional and new means of acquisitions. Coordinate all aspects of 
collection management and assessment. Write and/or review policies and 
procedures.

· Stay abreast of trends in collection development and publishing. 
Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and publishers.

· As part of the Technical Services team, collaborate with colleagues to 
ensure that library collections are discoverable and accessible.

· Work with subject liaisons, students, academic departments and 
programs to develop the library's collections. Spearhead digital 
projects. Serve as subject liaison to one or more academic departments.

· Perform collection analysis to determine collection usage and 
effectiveness, to understand community needs, and to guide 
demand-driven-acquisitions programs.

· Organize and conduct collection management projects, such as 
evaluation, de-selection, and inventory. Manage the print collection as 
the trend toward e-content continues.
With the Metadata and Acquisitions Librarian, establish, monitor, and 
track the collection budget.

· Review, renew, and manage all contracts and licenses for collection 
materials.
Provide oversight for the Archives and Special Collections, including 
intake, organization, and retention decisions.

· Present library instruction sessions to students in general education 
and discipline-specific courses.

· Participate in library outreach, particularly in regard to promotions 
and display of library collections. Participate in campus-wide forums to 
educate faculty and students about library resources.



Qualifications

Required

· ALA-accredited Master's degree in library or information science or 
foreign equivalent.

· At least two years of experience in library collection management

· Demonstrated knowledge of trends, issues, and best practices in 
academic library collection development, scholarly communications, and 
collection assessment.

· Demonstrated project management experience, including the ability to 
prioritize, set goals, and meet deadlines.

· Experience with staff-side functions of a major integrated library system.

· Experience with budgeting in a library setting.

· Proficient with Excel.

· Experience with or knowledge of licensing electronic resources and 
copyright issues.

· Experience working with library material vendors.

· Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with excellent 
attention to detail.

· Ability to work both independently and in collaborative and 
cooperative situations.

· Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history 
background check

Preferred:

· Experience with analysis of patron use of library collections, 
including all physical and electronic formats.

· Experience with evaluation and withdrawal of traditional print materials.

· Experience with III Millennium or Sierra.

· Experience with Microsoft Access or similar database software.
