The answer from here is: It depends. You need to check the licensing on the .pdf to see what is allowed. If we can't share it by mounting it on our server we don' t buy it. I've had circumstances where the license was unclear or missing on this point and have generally found that we were granted permission if we asked for it.

Hi Acqneteers,
We've started getting requests for individual e-books in PDF format that aren't part of a package or service. It's easy enough to buy and download them, but we're wondering what to do with them next. If we put them on a server we'd be distributing something for free. Printing them out or burning to disc seems clunky. Any ideas from the collective wisdom?
