Lee County Library System, headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida, 
welcomes qualified applicants for the position of Senior 
Librarian/Acquisitions Coordinator at the Library Processing Center in 
Lehigh Acres, Florida.

This position oversees the centralized acquisitions processes for the 
Lee County Library System. Works with Library System staff, Library 
Administration, Vendors, and the Technical Services Manager to oversee 
the materials budgets and acquisition of library materials in all 
formats for the Lee County Library System. The current fiscal year's 
combined materials budget for Lee County is just under 3.7 million 
dollars (includes base budget and state aid budget). Keeps accurate 
records of all budgets associated with library materials funds, 
including print, audio visual, electronic, and virtual. Monitors state 
aid funds for library materials. Reviews and releases orders to vendors. 
Supervises staff in the Acquisitions unit, which has responsibility for 
placing, receiving, and payment of library orders/materials. Prepares 
and monitors materials budget for the library in consultation with 
Collection Development Managers, Technical Services Manager, and Library 
Administration. Manages settings in the Library's Polaris automation 
system for Acquisitions related activities including EDI functions. 
Manages/administers accounts in library vendor ordering sites for staff 
access. Works closely with library vendors for all areas of library 
material acquisitions. Works with the Technical Services Manager to 
review and coordinate vendor contracts/licensing agreements for library 
resources. Follows up on issues relating to backorders and outstanding 
issues with vendors relating to material acquisitions. Responsibility 
for system-wide serials and continuations is also a responsibility of 
this unit. Works on other special projects as needed. Requires any 
combination of education and experience equivalent to a Master's degree 
in Library Science from a graduate library school program accredited by 
the American Library Association and two to five years of progressively 
responsible experience as a professional librarian in a public library 
system or a department or division of a main library. Possession of a 
valid driver's license is preferred with an acceptable driving record 
required. Ability to pass a criminal background check is required. 
Incumbent should have the ability to foster and maintain positive 
relationships with library vendors and staff. Good communication skills, 
both verbal and written, are essential to this position. Previous 
supervisory experience is required. Knowledge of library acquisitions 
principles and their relationship to collection development of library 
resources is desired, as well as experience with Excel and the Polaris 
automation system.  The Lee County Library System currently serves 
thirteen branches and a bookmobile with a healthy materials budget and 
good support from our community.  The Acquisitions Coordinator serves on 
the supervisory team of the Technical Services department and reports 
directly to the Technical Services Manager.  The Technical Services 
department at the Lee County Library System includes acquisitions, 
cataloging, collection development, delivery, interlibrary loan, and 
processing.
