ALCTS Webinar: Electronic Resources Workflows and Tools

Date: October 23, 2013

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11am Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1pm Central, and 2pm Eastern time.

Description: This webinar will cover key points to consider, tools, and
workflow options in managing electronic resources. Most libraries use
multiple tools and approaches to manage e-resources, which brings benefits
and challenges. Speakers will provide insights and perspectives on ERM
systems, supplemental processes to fill gaps in functionality, and those
systems' interoperability with patron-facing interfaces.

Who should attend? Those responsible for electronic resource management.

Presenters:

Dawn Hale has been Head of Technical Services at the Sheridan Libraries of
the Johns Hopkins University for the past 10 years. Prior to her Hopkins’
experience, she held original cataloger positions. Dawn is currently on the
editorial board of the ALCTS Papers Series and is a member of the Ross
Atkinson Lifetime Achievement Award Committee, the OCLC Research Library
Metadata Partners Focus Group, and the OCLC E-resources Advisory Council.

Kari Schmidt is currently the E-Resources Librarian & Co-Interim Director
for Information Delivery Services at American University Library in
Washington, DC. In these roles she is responsible for the Electronic
Resource Management Unit, Resource Description Unit, and Acquisitions Unit
at the Library. Her previous positions include Electronic Resources
Librarian at the University System of Maryland as well as Collection
Management and Electronic Resources Librarian and Assistant Director for
Resource Management at the Georgetown University Medical Center Library.

Laura Wrubel is the E-Resources Content Manager at George Washington
University Libraries. She is responsible for access to e-resources and is
involved in supporting and improving the libraries' link resolver,
discovery layer, and systems for managing e-resources. Laura received her
library degree from the University of Maryland.
