Your question is so timely for me. There are three librarians in my Technical Services department (me, an Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian, and a Collection Services and Metadata Librarian) and we are all tenure-track.
After switching to my current position from another university mid-career, I am back on tenure-track. I find the tenure requirements of my new position much more public-service oriented than my old one, where I completed a 7-year tenure process. My new position is providing me with an expedited process, but seems to require more of a public service dossier. If there are other technical services librarians that have been through a similar process, could I find out what kinds of things you could include in your dossier as supporting evidence? If you prefer, feel free to respond to me offline.
My first review is slated for this fall – my one-year anniversary for my position is Oct. 10th, and so far I have had to do two professional searches for my department (though not as chair) and assisted with another professional search for our University Archives. I am fortunate that we found excellent people for the two positions in my department, but getting up to speed myself and helping my new librarians adjust (among doing many other things!) has left little time for me to prepare the dossier. I’m not daunted by the process, but any assistance from those who have “been there” would be so appreciated!
