Hello,
Thanks to the librarians that responded off-list to my request for information about migrating acquisitions data! I was asked to summarize the data that I received for the list.
I heard from three schools. One school chose not to migrate their acquisitions data when they did their last migration. They opted instead to print out much of the data. If they were to do another migration, they would choose to export the data into a format that could be read by Excel. The other two libraries chose to migrate their data. One library was able to migrate all of their acquisitions data although some data did not migrate as well as they had hoped. For the other library, "orders that were already paid or paid invoices" could not be migrated. So, they are lacking the historical data.
Thanks,

Subject: Migrating Acquisitions Data
Hello,
Does anyone have experience extracting their acquisitions data for migration to a new ILS? We are planning a migration to Sierra and have received a preliminary quote for extracting our acquisitions data from Voyager. Unfortunately, the quote was higher than I had anticipated. I would be very interested in hearing about any experiences list members have had with transitioning their acquisitions data from one ILS to another. I want to make sure others have successfully migrated their data before we commit to the extract fee.
Thanks!
