Session title:  Ebook Data Evaluation through the Eyes of an Academic 
Librarian and a Public Librarian: A Tale of Two Libraries

Program details:
Attendees at this session will hear how two librarians, one from a 
public library and one from an academic library use ebook data reports 
at their respective libraries. Each librarian will discuss ebook data 
from their respective institutions and talk about the stories they can 
tell to support funding and development of ebook programs using this 
data. Come and hear how statistical information can be interpreted and 
presented to support each library's goals.

Speaker: Ellen Safley, Director of Libraries, University of Texas at Dallas
Speaker: Adam Wathen, Collection Development Manager, Johnson County 
Library, Shawnee Mission, Kansas



Ellen Safley is the Director of Libraries at the University of Texas at 
Dallas.  Her research interests include enhancing and developing new 
services for the 21st century library, migrating traditional collections 
to maximize the acquisition and use of electronic resources, and 
embracing assessment techniques to show how libraries are used and 
changing over time.
  She is involved with many organizations including the American Library 
Association and the Texas Library Association.
  Ellen holds a Master of Library Science degree from the University of 
Pittsburgh and a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Economy from the 
University of Texas at Dallas.
  When she is not working, Ellen dabbles in botanical illustration and 
is an avid orchid enthusiast.

Adam Wathen is the Collection Development Manager at Johnson County 
Library in Shawnee Mission, Kansas where he spends his energy providing 
service, developing data-driven models for collection management, and 
leading the shift from physical content to eContent. Adam's library 
experience has moved him through several University libraries with roles 
in reference, Government Publications, Selection, Instruction, and 
Director of a private college library. Adam transitioned to public 
libraries after having served as Acquisitions Librarian at Kansas State 
University.
