Keep in mind that without a license, you still may have copyright restrictions, in which case providing an open link from your ILS may not be legal.

Generally, for materials under copyright but without a license or other mechanism for permission, we would tend to print out a copy for the collection.  Preservation is a big part of our mission for much of what we collect, so printing an item out helps with that, too.

Hi,

I recently purchased a PDF only toolkit/manual for an instructor. I  am curious as to how other institutions handle this type of purchase. Do you print it out and make it available for check out, or do you provide access to the PDF file from your ILS? It did not come with any licensing or restrictions.
