The University Libraries of The University of North Carolina at
Greensboro invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean for
Collection Management and Scholarly Communications.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Dean for Collection Management and Scholarly
Communications leads, administers, and coordinates collection
development, technical services and scholarly communications for the
University of North Carolina at Greensboro University Libraries. The
Assistant Dean (AD) provides leadership for the selection and management
of collections, including the collections budget, and participates in
the management and assessment of technical services by focusing on
strategies that maximize the latest technologies. In this highly visible
position, the AD coordinates the development and promotion of
sustainable models of scholarly communication and initiates innovative
approaches to open access as it evolves on our campus. The AD is
responsible for promoting new systems of scholarly communication through
advocacy and outreach to UNCG students, faculty and administrators and
through training and coordination of staff within the libraries. As a
member of the University Libraries’ Administrative Team, the AD
participates in general administrative decision-making, library
management, strategic planning and priority setting. This position
reports to the Dean of University Libraries.
